Locking project quotes

June 03, 2025 #quoting

We've introduced a new feature that allows you to "lock" project quotes for an extended period. You can now lock a quote for a project and keep it valid for the next 7 days. Once the extension expires, we will generate a new quote for the project using the most up-to-date information we have regarding part availability and pricing.

What does locking the quote do?

As mentioned above, locking the quote fixes the quoted price of the project for a set period of time. Once a quote is locked, certain aspects of the project will become read-only and can no longer be modified. These read-only sections are the elements that directly influence the quote price.

Once locked, the following parts of the project page cannot be modified:

Note: It should be stressed that the locked quote does not lock the delivery date. Only upon placing the order will we be able to define the delivery date. However, the quoted price to complete the assembly of your order and the price of parts, PCBs etc will remain.

How does this work on the website

Once your design files have been uploaded to our platform, you'll be redirected to your project page. All the usual steps required to place an order still apply (e.g., completing part sourcing), but now there's a new button in the quote panel that allows you to lock the quote.

This button becomes active only when the project is in an orderable state.

Clicking the lock button will open a confirmation dialog summarizing the details mentioned in this post.

After locking the quote, the quote panel at the bottom of the screen will show the locked status, along with a countdown timer indicating how long the quote remains valid.

If you want to release the quote lock, simply click the countdown lock button and confirm the unlock action. Once unlocked, you’ll be able to modify your project again.

I don't see this feature active on my projects?

This new feature is currently not available to all users. If you're interested in trying out quote locking, please contact your account manager to have it enabled for your workspace(s).
